GAYME CHANGER

The Rise of LGBT+ Equality in Workplaces, Markets, and Societies
It's been a stunning development in a short period of time: In GaYme Changer, the first book of its kind, Jens Schadendorf has traced the LGBT+ community and an increasing number of their allies across the globe to discover the start of a revolution in businesses and economies.

With fascinating stories around individuals, companies, nonprofits and a fast-growing cohort of other organizations, he describes the emergence of a strong ecosystem accelerating the rise of global LGBT+ equality.

Supported by up-to-date research, he also shows how investment in LGBT+ diversity and inclusion delivers a powerful return. It is both economically and ethically beneficial for companies, societies, and every human being to let LGBT+ people develop into dynamic forces, rooted in new forms of cooperation, learning, and productive activism for ga(y)me changing results.

The struggle for recognition is not yet over. However, in workplaces and markets many gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual and queer individuals have become champions of economic strength – true ga(y)me changers, not only working for the next level of LGBT+ equality, but also developing the global economy faster and for the better.

Events & The Book's Journey

The journey of writing, publishing, and marketing this book has been rich. Jens has traveled on four continents and researched on five. He has conducted numerous interviews and participated in conferences, award ceremonies, panel discussions, and workshops, sometimes as the only external participant. He has also connected to many places digitally. The timeline shows some selected milestones. It includes some of the many engagements as a speaker, further GaYme Changer editions in German, Slovak, and Portuguese, the nomination for the Financial Times Book Award 2021, the recognition to be shortlisted for the UK Business Book Award 2022, the launch of two short ebooks "GaYme Changers in Slovakia" and ""GaYme Changers in Portugal" in 2023, and much more.

JENS SCHADENDORF

author

Jens Schadendorf is an economist and a book changemaker.

As an author, keynote speaker and panelist, Jens focuses on LGBT+ equality, responsible business, organizational and social change and thought leadership. He has published several books, written for leading German media, including Financial Times Deutschland, Zeit online, Tagesspiegel, and Spiegel, and is an independent LGBT+ researcher at the Chair of Business Ethics at the Technical University of Munich, Bavaria, where he lives.

Jens makes change via books in another way, too. An award-winning editorial and publishing director for many years, he has worked with bestselling authors such as Jack Welch, Bill Clinton, Anita Roddick, Peter Drucker, Don Tapscott, Charles Handy, and Hans-Werner Sinn. Today his main business is to advise companies, scientists, managers, and medical doctors on book projects globally. These have been published by well-known US, British and German media houses, as well as some in Japan, China, France, Brazil, Korea, and Russia.

Jens has served as a medical corpsman in the German army and holds a degree in shipping management and a Master’s in economic and social sciences from the bilingual French-German university of Fribourg, Switzerland. There, he also worked as a research associate at the Institute of Political Economy, followed by postgraduate studies on East Asian economic development and culture in Bangkok and Singapore, funded by the Swiss National Fund.
